Murphy's Law Look 4/30/16

Hi guys! For this look, I was inspired by @sleepologist on Instagram. Sarah is this uber-talented artist. Her photos give me life. Initially, she posted this look on a Saturday. That day, I planned to stay home and do house work, which meant a makeup free day. However, when I saw her picture, I simply had to take a stab at re-creating the look. Seriously, this look gave me a lot of trouble. I forgot to apply primer or some sort of base to my eyes and only applied it to my brows. Because I used the Tarte product on my eyes, which is a great moisturizer, the shadow kept coming off in certain areas, almost like it was breaking down. This led the look to be soooooo challenging to complete and set. Initially, the purple wasn't as intense but I kept having to add more and more color to try and stop/combat what was happening. Plus, the yellow wasn't quite as strong as I wanted despite layering it on. If I were to try this look again, I would definitely go about it completely different. #1, I would use a primer and/or base, as per the norm. #2, I would apply the colors in a different order to get more pop from the yellow shade. For this look, you do need to do a lot of blending, aside from my initial error in missing that step. You have to add color, blend, add, blend, and do this repeatedly between the colors. The beauty is truly in the flow between one shade and the next. This is true with all my looks. However, this one is a challenge because we are using matte shades. Matte shades do require a little more finess than shades with a little bit of sparkle. If you are new to makeup, this wouldn't be a look I would suggest you start with. However, it is a spectacular look and does have a unique finish upon completion. Newbies attempting this look would get a lot of practice blending colors, which is critical to all makeup looks. You can also add a bit of liner to give the look definition and false lashes for a glamorous touch, as well.
