Review: Blvd. Cosmetics Candy Cane Brush Shampoo & Conditioner New/Revised Brush Off System 12/4/15

Hi guys!  I have tested the Blvd. Cosmetics Brush Shampoo & Conditioner repeatedly over the past year and posted my results.  For those of you who follow me, you know how strongly I feel about this product.  This past Black Friday, I took advantage of the sale and stocked up on one of my favorite scents: Candy Cane.

Recently, Ely with Blvd. Cosmetics had sent me the Pro Size Unscented version with the new Brush Off System.  I will post the link with my review here.  However, this new batch that I purchased didn't have the same system.  This batch had, what I can only compare it to, the rough side of Velcro as the Brush Off System.  The one that was sent felt like the soft side of Velcro, in hindsight.  I haven't had confirmation or denial from Blvd. Cosmetics that my suspicion is correct or incorrect and is simply based on my experience with certain products.  I will always give it to you all straight and, honestly, I was slightly nervous about using this to wash my brushes.  I feared it would be too rough and would cause damage.  I must emphasize, I had no hesitation about the Shampoo whatsoever.  Regardless, I proceeded to try it out with a batch of dirty brushes.

My conclusions:  I did find the Brush Off System did a good job cleaning my brushes.  I found that it washed them quicker than the previous one sent to me and really dug into the built up product easily.  I didn't notice any damage or stress on the bristles, nor did I see any fall out or breakage.  That leaves me to wonder if the one sent to me for review was the wrong side of the Velcro (if that is what it is).  I am not getting rid of that one, by the way.  I really felt it polished the bristles to my brushes.  The Shampoo lathered really well with this system, as well.  I really liked how they incorporated the entire packaging and how it all becomes useful.  I have no complaints and nothing negative at all to say at all.  I did get my brushes clean and fresh, as always, thanks the to great Brush Shampoo & Conditioner by Blvd. Cosmetics.

Worth mentioning is the packaging change.  Before, the label was basically a sticker and when it would get wet during use, the sticker would lose its initial beauty if you touched it.  I was always careful not to mess with the label too much when it was damp to keep it looking decent.  It didn't impact the way I felt about the product itself and I believed that would change once the product's popularity grew.  Call it a hunch.  This new label is beautiful and fabulous!  It doesn't change when wet and remains in tact throughout use.  The only thing I would say is that the label on the bottom is still a sticker type label and it does loosen when damp, as well as crinkle.  I hope one day the bottom label will be the same as the top and all will stay in tact perfectly.  Along with the packaging improvement and Brush Off System came an increase in price.  Initially, each was sold for $16.  The price is now $18.85 for the 2 oz size and $32.95 for the Pro Size.

Update: As per Ely, I did receive both options for the Brush Off System and nothing was incorrect or accidental.  I see it as a luck thing because, despite the first not making the cut, I was able to try and experience two new ways to use the product and test performance.  The way I see it, the Brush Shampoo is the star of the show and everything else is just extra.  I can appreciate the level of quality consistently maintained with every batch.  As a consumer, I can also respect the high standards set into play with each container.

What do you look for in a brush cleanser?  Let me know in the comments below.  I would love to hear from you.
