A Day To Remember Look & 3 Mini Reviews 3/19/16

Hi dolls! Yesterday was one of the best days of my life. It had it's ups and downs but, all in all, the ups filled the day and it was just so memorable. I spent the day with family and people who are extremely special to me and I can't stress enough how wonderful the day was. When you associate with those whose presence in your life stands the test of time, who you know will love you and support you, you can easily get swept away in absolute joy and happiness.

When I decided on the makeup for the day, I knew I was going to wear a brown shirt and I typically match my eye makeup to my clothing. So, it was the perfect opportunity to try out my new MAC Cosmetics palette that is exclusive to Nordstrom, as it is filled with shades that are appropriate for that color scheme. I also tried out the MAC Cosmetics mascara sample I received with my order as well as the new Bite Beauty lipstick sample I received with a Sephora purchase. It certainly was a day to try out new things.

For the eyes, I used Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion on the eyes and brows. I filled in my brows with NYX Cosmetics Micro Brow Pencil in Espresso and applied Laura Mercier Tawny Eye Basics to the eye. I tried out the MAC Cosmetics Eyeshadow X 15/Nordstrom palette. I used Brule under the brow, Bamboo on the crease/brow one area for blending, and It's Personal on the eye lid and lower lash line. For the outer corner, I used Buckwheat topped with Mystery. Goldbit was added to the tear duct area for highlight. MAC Cosmetics Carbon was applied to the upper lash line for effect and softened, blended upward and outward on the outer eyelid. Two coats of MAC Cosmetics False Lashes Extreme Black mascara were applied to the lashes.

For the face, I used Marc Jacobs Invisible Undercover Perfecting Coconut Face Primer and topped it with 46 Golden Deep Re(marc)able Full Cover Foundation. Make Up For Ever Full Cover Extreme Camouflage Cream in shade 5 was applied under the eyes. Laura Geller Beauty nearly took over the next phase of the makeup application as I used Double Take Baked Versatile Powder Foundation in shade Medium to set the foundation. I used Anastasia Beverly Hills Java on the hollows of the cheeks. Back to Laura Geller Beauty, Baked Gelato Vivid Swirl Blush in Rosewater was applied to the cheeks and I highlighted the tops of my cheekbones, as well as added to the tear duct highlight, with Baked Gellato Illuminator in Rose Glow. MAC Cosmetics Whirl Lip Pencil was applied to my natural lip line and Bite Beauty Radish Amuse Bouche Lipstick completed the lips. Because I knew it was going to be a long day, I drenched my face Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Spray to make sure my makeup wouldn't try to escape.

My thoughts on the new products I tried today: The MAC Cosmetics palette is versatile for a variety of looks, from simple and understated to intense and dramatic. If you're new to makeup, this is a good palette to have and the price is right. However, if you already have an extensive collection, you may want to pass on this one, as the shades aren't unique and you may already have them or something very similar in your collection. The mascara was alright, it wasn't the best and certainly not the worst. I prefer to only apply one coat to make my lashes look fuller and longer. However, it lasted throughout the day, without issue, and there wasn't any black flecks on my face like with other products I have tried. In regard to the lipstick, Bite Beauty has not done me wrong. This is another winner in my book. With it's intense pigmentation and smooth application, plus hydrating formula, I highly recommend this line of lip products.

  1. I was thinking of getting the MAC palette, but thank you for the heads up. I'm sure I have dupes in my collection. I think I'll pick up some pans instead since they are $6 now. I love the look you created. The lipstick looks gorgeous!

    1. Hi Lupe! Yeah I was pretty disheartened with the palette but the shades I used for this look did perform well, thankfully. The lipstick is everything. It would look great on you! Thanks for commenting dear!
